Here is a lovely quilt, from a member of our Wednesday group, shall not reveal who, I am sure that she will want to show and tell herself, but this is a taster of come2quilt exhibition on 10th and 11th September.

This is a lovely Singer 28k from 1918. These lovely old machines stitch beautfully.

This is a wallhanging I made for my friends 50th birthday, I hand dyed and painted the fabric and seed stitched a small amount of quilting. Bit out of comfort zone, but I enjoyed doing it, and my friend was pleasedwith it.

Who says you need a hoop to quilt?

Saturday, 28 May 2011

Another featherweight!
Uh oh, guess what I found under the bushes.
Those who know me know I have been missing my little Honey for over a year now.
I took a BIG descision and chose this little girl, who I have called Raya, and she is making my heart sing. Pebbles has been really good with her too. Yes sorry that is my sofa.

Me and Pebbles just before Raya

Did I tell you my favourite colour was green??

Sewing so far this last week -none. Am still very happy.:-)

On Sunday Shirley and I met up with our other quilting friends at Westpoint. Kate had had a very successful time with her first visitors at Come2quilt. Deservedly so We think. here are a few of the lovely quilts on show. This was a small portion of a beautiful seascape quilt. The photo does not do it justice.
There were a selection of stain glass through the garden quilts. This was my favourite. It had a colourwash effect which I love.
This was the winner of the fabric challenge quilt, very eyecatching.
I had a lovely birthday with my good friends at Kate's on Wednesday. Not a brilliant photo, but all my gifts were thoughtfully chosen, and let me tell you gratefully received.

I am so lucky to have such a lovely group of friends.
I am sorry I do not have any more info about the quilts shown. Too much gossiping to be done I am afraid, no other excuse.

I will try to show some more quilts over the next couple of days.

Happy stitching.

Pebbles has been hard at work, helping me with a very difficult task.
My rearranged sewing room. This is a very bad picture I am afraid, because of the light from the window, oh for some lessons in photography. This is the relaxing part of the room, decorated with pictures from my grandchildren.

My two beautiful featherweights, sat in pride of place.

My shelves have been reorganised, I am not a naturally tidy person and find it hard to discilpine myself.

I bought this red S buttonholer at the car boot sale on Sunday, am I crazy or would this look really good in my retro kitchen?

Hope to have some more pictures tomorrow, when I have been to Kate's tomorrow.
Happy stitching

Well it's my birthday today, and I wanted to share a couple of things.
My daughter made me this beautiful card, it is better in the flesh as I am not a good photographer, I so love it when someone puts a little bit of themselves into a project.
I really wish I could say this is my kitchen, but it is a lovely yummy card my sister Anne Marie sent me. I am yearning now to make some homey things for my kitchen.

This is my real kitchen, the sun is shining so beautifully today, and I have these lovely primulas basking in it. Isn't it amazing what sunshine and colour can do for your spirits.

Well I guess a bit of gardening is in order, although I would rather be sewing.

Have added my latest postcard quilts. Have been pretty good at keeping up, but not my most precise work! But I am keeping a little diary, and find it an opportunity to just have a go, without getting too hung up. The blue tit from my garden, in andout of the nesting box.
A valentines heart, made of ribbons.

This is the flower my daughter wants scattered over her birthday quilt

A colourwash made with one inch squares

A stitch and flip amish style.
I have been busy spring cleaning, and have changed my sewing room around, no mean fit considering the clutter!!
May even post a picture when I have finished tidying.

Just a few pictures of our lovely Wednesday treat day at Kate's.
She has been a very busy lady, just one of her lovely yummy projects, is this chair.
Shirl and I wanted to get our 'grubby mits', on it, but Margaret intervened. I hope you didn't take this after I left Shirley????? Another view of the lovely clamshell seat, who could defile this by sitting on it?
I hope you don't mind me posting this Shirley, but it makes my mouth water, I think this is the ONE. These are Shirley's hexes from a jelly roll, I think you will agree that this is gorgeous.

This is the quilt I have been working on for my daughters 30th. Thanks to Kate Margaret and Shirley for their help with the arrangement of the 4 patches. I just hope it will be finished in time, but I do have til September, so maybe.
I have been trying to be good with my postcard quilts and have just finished another, so will promise myself to post pictures tomorrow.
Thanks again Kate for sharing your wonderful space with us.

Blogging again at last!
Poving I have not been compl;etely idle, week by week this year I challenged myself to do a small postcard journal, so I am creating something achievable, once a week.
Week one
Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

Week 5, these are dried hydrangea flowers, free motion embroidered onto silk, which worked really well. Wouldn't have tried that on a quilt!!
I have also written a small entry on the day I made the quilt so that I remember how I felt on that day.
Back to the drawing board!!

http://come2quilt.co.uk/
This was the grand opening and cutting the ribbon of Kate and David Ransom's new venture.
With a celebrity cutting of the ribbon, by our Shirl. Design wall of upcoming projects

Our wonderful hostess, who poached eggs under stress, and they were purrrfect
So this was a big descision, what fabric for the background?????

Oh so relaxing, Kate you have such vision!!

Rosemary., what a wonderful smile, you must be having a good time.

Star of the show, my white featherweight, but such space and ambience... Ok Kate you win.

More decisions

Lovely relaxing times, Bucks Fizz could have helped...

Thanks Kate for a wonderful day, you have worked so hard, we had a lovely day. Look forward to June's exhibition, no pressure there then!!

Thanks to all for a lovely time, 2011 is going to be good for us all.

Sunday, 2 January 2011

So 2010 has left us and I am going over the highs and lows.
My friends and family will know how much I mourned the loss of my precious cavalier Honey. But in celebration she was a good age, and as you can see in this photo looked sparky to the end.
Pebbles ever the rebel will not look at the camera!!
I had a wonderful birthday with Mum Dad and daughter Laura, I think they all look good for their age!!
Also some sunshine, hard to think with all the snow recently.

This was a sunset from our drive , we really do live in an idyllic place.(Until the snow)

Me and my Mum, looks good for 75 I think. (Sorry Mum)

Me and my sisters, spread out in age, but guess who is the odd one out, with the curls!!!

I am so pleased that my daughter has met this lovely boy??? man??? He has made her so happy.
She will be 30 years old this year, but had childhood leukaemia and we were told when she was 3 years old she had 2 weeks to live. I think she looks pretty good, but I am of course biased.
All in all I have a lot to be thankful for, I have more, but will save it for another day.
Thank you to all my special friends, you know who you are, and my family for supporting me through a difficult year.
I KNOW 2011 will be a better year for all of us xxx
